Our parent and infant relationship (PAIR) Level 1 training course equips professionals with the essential knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care to families. You'll learn to identify strengths and needs so you can deliver the best care to pregnant parents and those with babies, helping you and your team provide consistent and compassionate support to the families they serve.

Why this training matters

In the UK, fewer than 30 specialised parent–infant teams exist, meaning most babies will never have access to expert support. Yet 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers experience perinatal mental health difficulties. The early relationship between parent and baby is the most powerful protective factor we have and everyone working with families can help strengthen it.
• 42% of CAMHS services in England will not see a child under two.
• The long-term cost to society from perinatal mental health difficulties is £8.1 billion per year.
• Early relational support saves money and changes lives.

The PAIR L1 Training Course is your opportunity to appreciate, act and advocate, to see the world through the baby’s eyes and respond in ways that protect and nurture the caregiving relationship and environment. This CPD accredited training has been developed for all individuals working with infants and their parent/s/caregivers from pregnancy to the second year of life, to supportparent/s/caregiver to promote healthy infant development. It is informed by research, theory and evidence-based practice, and designed to raise standards of care for families by supporting all staff to optimize their learning and skills.

Interesting, educative and Interactive. The course content was excellent and it made me think about my own experiences of being a parent, and in particular how neurodiversity effects parent and child relationships.
