Listening to Parent Voices make for Better Beginnings

The first 1,001 days of a child’s life are crucial for building secure attachment, social-emotional skills, and healthy development. At DorPIP, we know that parents are the experts on their own families. Their experiences, insights, and feedback are essential for shaping services that are practical, effective, and responsive to real needs.

Listening to parents helps us identify gaps in support, adapt interventions, and ensure that our services, whether parent–infant therapy, group sessions, or workforce development initiatives, truly meet the needs of families. It also informs policy discussions and strengthens the wider system of support for babies and caregivers.

At DorPIP, every family is asked for their input through surveys, feedback sessions, and everyday conversations. This ongoing dialogue allows us to co-produce services with families, making sure their voices guide our work and help us target inequities, strengthen parent–infant relationships, and support parental wellbeing.

Engaging with parents isn’t just a “nice-to-have”—it’s a core part of providing meaningful, effective support. By centering parent voices, we ensure that our work reflects lived experience, addresses challenges early, and helps families and babies flourish.
